WILLS AND ESTATES

Estate Documents most everyone should have:

  • No one relishes the idea of preparing estate documents but I make the process straightforward and convenient. Once completed, you will be greatly relieved that you have taken an important step towards looking after your loved ones – and yourself.
  • Your Last Will allows you to direct how your assets will be distributed upon your death. Among other things, it also allows you to name who you wish to administer your estate on your behalf and, of great importance to young families, to specify who will be the legal guardians of minor children.
  • We must also protect ourselves from misfortune that can befall us short of death and to help do that, along with your Last Will I’ll prepare your Enduring Power of Attorney and your Personal Directive (sometimes called a ‘living will’). These documents allow you to designate someone you trust to make financial and health care decisions on your behalf if you have lost the capacity to make those decisions yourself due to accident or illness.
  • Although the documents are serious, I make it easy for you to have them drawn up. I will come to meet with you twice – once to discuss your circumstances and your wishes and then a second time for you to sign the documents I have prepared on your behalf. In total it will take about an hour of your time and from start to finish the entire process will be complete in about a week. And, unless there are very significant changes in your circumstances, your documents will be never be out of date.

Estate Administration:

  • I have assisted and guided many executors and trustees through the difficult and demanding task of obtaining probate and administering an estate. If you are faced with this challenge and feel you need assistance or guidance, please call to discuss your particular circumstances.
